Ocean Renewable Energy Conference XI
September 21-23, 2016
Leadership. Experience. Solutions. For ten years, the Ocean Renewable Energy Conference (OREC) helped bring a nascent industry’s challenges and opportunities into focus. At OREC XI, we embark on a new decade of solutions, as marine energy scales to commercialization. This year’s conference, with a wider regional and technological foundation, is structured to tap the experience and knowledge of leaders from industry, academia and government, joined as a single community to realize the full potential of this new, 21st century energy source. For marine renewables, the power is in the journey we share, and OREC XI, in Portland, Oregon, is the next stop.
Every year, the National Hydropower Association holds its Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. The event brings together the industry’s collective knowledge on a diverse set of topics.
The 2016 Annual Conference theme is: Strengthening Our Economy. Protecting Our Future.
The ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit is an annual conference and technology showcase that brings together experts from different technical disciplines and professional communities to think about America’s energy challenges in new and innovative ways. Now in its seventh year, the Summit offers a unique, three-day program aimed at moving transformational energy technologies out of the lab and into the market. Tim Mundon, Oscilla Power’s Director of Marine Operations, participated on a panel entitled “Big Blue – Energy Opportunities in the Ocean”.
The International Conference on Ocean Energy featured over 180 high-level speakers, covering hot topics including emerging markets, grid solutions, consenting and licensing, emerging technologies and large investor engagement. Tim Mundon, Oscilla Power’s Director of Marine Operations, presented a talk entitled “Progress in the Hydrodynamic Design of Heave Plates for Wave Energy Converters”. Additionally, as an OWET partner, Oscilla Power had a presence at the Oregon Wave Energy Trust’s booth.
At HydroVision International, the world’s most comprehensive collection of hydro-related product and service providers showcased their capabilities. Rahul Shendure, Oscilla Power’s CEO, presented in a session entitled “Technology Development in Marine and Hydrokinetic Energy”.
The International Marine Renewable Energy Conference (IMREC) offers researchers, technology developers, policy makers, NGOs, and industry representatives the opportunity to discuss financing instruments, best management practices, and global regulatory developments regarding marine renewable energy. Industry leaders discuss U.S. and international marine energy projects, environmental monitoring, design tools, testing infrastructure, offshore safety and construction, and the evolving trends and markets of this technology. Rahul Shendure, Oscilla Power’s CEO, participated on a panel entitled “Global Emerging Trends/Showcase technologies in MHK development”.
With nearly 24,000 attendees, the AGU Fall Meeting is the largest Earth and space science meeting in the world. Now in its 47th year, the AGU Fall Meeting is the best place to present research, hear about the latest discoveries, trends, and challenges in the field. Tim Mundon, Oscilla Power’s Director of Marine Operations, presented.
The Asian Wave and Tidal Energy Conference Series (AWTEC) has been established as the regional conference affiliated with the European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference Series (EWTEC). AWTEC was established to facilitate the transnational and regional sharing of knowledge and understanding from research activities concerning the development of wave and tidal renewable energy systems, their interactions with the environment and the identification of barriers to be addressed to establish the marine renewable energy industry. Balky Nair, Oscilla Power’s CTO and Tim Mundon, Oscilla Power’s Director of Marine Operations, prepared a paper for this event, Optimization of a Mechanical Wave Energy Converter.
The Ocean Renewable Energy Conference, now in its ninth year, is the gathering place for world leaders deeply committed to moving this industry forward. This year the conference will focus on assessing where the industry is today and what it will take to go the distance. Tim Mundon, Oscilla Power’s Director of Marine Operations, presented.
Tim Mundon, Oscilla Power’s Director of Marine Operations, is the chair of the Wave, Tidal and In-stream Power track and will moderate its introductory panel. He will be a panelist on the Wave Power: Status, Prospects and R&D Needs panel.
Inigo Puente, Oscilla Power’s Managing Director, Europe, participated in the Hannover fair in conjunction with the Washington State Department of Commerce.
